California Highway Patrol officers say a Redding man stole a car from a landscaping company and then used it to steal more from vehicles up and down the North State.
Officer Shawn Gordon said it was a “smash and grab” theft from a vehicle in the Mount Shasta Black Bear Diner parking lot Saturday that eventually led to officers to Anthony McIntire, 37.
Officers who’d been notified of the theft spotted McIntire later in the morning on Highway 97 near Grass Lake, Gordon said. They found two backpacks from the diner covered in glass in McIntire’s vehicle, he said.
But that wasn’t all.
Gordon said the officers then learned that McIntire was not only driving on a suspended license — he was driving a vehicle that had been stolen from a landscaping company in Redding.
They also found other stolen property that came “from various places from Redding to Mount Shasta,” including some that McIntire took from Mount Shasta’s Recreation & Parks District,…
