NOVATO, CA – The city of Novato is prepared to open shelters, if needed, as thousands of people evacuate their homes due to the North Bay wildfires.
The city has been coordinating with Marin County to support the needs of neighboring Napa and Sonoma counties, including preparing for formal shelter requests, according to city officials. Hundreds of evacuees have already found shelter at Marin Center Exhibit Hall in San Rafael.

“When needed, we stand ready to open a shelter on short notice,” Novato city officials said on social media. “We are grateful to our faith community for opening their doors to people in need and our public safety personnel are providing assistance as needed.”
