Neighboring California wineries help out

Update, Thursday 8:20 a.m. Livermore wineries have expanded their relief efforts, adding donations to The Community Foundation of Mendocino County’s disaster fund. Paso Robles vintners are donating $1 per bottle of wine sold now through Oct. 31. The Paso Robles Wine Alliance will direct the money to disaster funds in the three fire-ravaged regions.

More individual efforts are popping up as well. Santa Cruz Mountains-based Windy Oaks Estate Vineyards and Winery will donate 10 percent of all sales this weekend from online purchases and at its three tasting rooms in Corralitos, Carmel-by-the-Sea and Carmel Valley to the Community Foundation of Sonoma County’s Resilience Fund. Restaurant and wine bar Enoteca La Storia in San Jose is holding a fundraising dinner on Oct. 15 and will donate 10 percent of all food sales that night, as well as silent auction proceeds, to Center for Volunteer & Nonprofit Leadership, an agency coordinating relief efforts.
