In Foothill football’s locker room among the many photograph and newspaper clippings collected and hung on the walls over the years, there’s a particular photo that looks a little different.

There’s a layer of smoke and fog that hung over that game, a home playoff game in 2007 against Enterprise, which dominates the photo.

The temperature cools down, and smoke from chimneys in the nearby neighborhoods settles into Bill Johnson Community Stadium.

“By about third or fourth quarter it just starts rolling in, and you can’t see much but the field and it’s pretty cool looking,” Cougars head coach Joey Brown said.

That will be the backdrop for Friday’s big game, when the Cougars (4-2, 1-0) host the defending Northern Section and Division 4-A state champion Pleasant Valley Vikings (2-4, 1-0).
