One of the remaining community pieces to make the city of Weed whole again after the 2014 Boles Fire is well under construction.
A concrete slab was poured this summer and a new Community Center is starting to take shape, said Martin Nicholas, board chairman of the Weed Recreation and Parks District, who also serves as the city’s police chief.
“The building is on the way up now,” Nicholas said Thursday.
The new community center is being built just east of Charlie Byrd Park to replace the former community center that burned along with about 150 homes and other structures in the devastating blaze.
