Butte Rose Society has annual show, monthly meeting

Chico >> October is a busy month for the Butte Rose Society with its annual rose show and monthly meeting.

The 23rd annual Festival of Roses is planned from 1-4:30 p.m. Oct. 28. The free show will be at the Chico Community Center, 545 Vallombrosa Ave. The nearby Creekside Rose Garden at the center will be open too.

The free rose show will feature a kaleidoscope of colors in a variety of roses grown by members of the Butte Rose Society and others. The show includes hundreds of vases of roses, along with rose information, photographs, children’s activities, and rose experts to answer questions.

Rose lovers are welcome to enter their roses in the competition, and do not have to be society members. There is no fee. The entries are judged by American Rose Society-certified judges who travel to Chico from throughout Northern California to judge the show.
