Arlen, Margaret Louise Vroom | Pueblo Chieftain

Margaret Louise Vroom Arlen, longtime Pueblo resident, died Aug. 7, 2017, one month before her 99th birthday. She lived at home in Santa Rosa, Calif., until her last eight weeks of life. She was born Sept. 4, 1918, in Salisbury, Mo., to parents who were professional musicians. They moved to Pueblo, Colo., in 1934, where she met her husband, Arthur L. Arlen; they were married 61 years (1939-2000). The Arlens moved from Colorado to Sonoma County, Calif., in 1986 to be near their daughters. Margaret was a 73-year member of NSDAR (National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution), both in Pueblo and Santa Rosa, Calif. Passionate about patriotism and values the DAR promotes, she served more than once as regent and other offices; in her 20’s, she also was instrumental in starting a Junior Committee in Pueblo.
